CHARITIES

Willberry Wonder Pony

Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony is an official charity set up by the late Hannah Francis. The successful young event rider was diagnosed with bone cancer in May 2015 and died, aged 18, on 1 August 2016. The organisation was approved as a registered charity on 2 May 2016 and all funds raised by the charity go towards bone cancer research and granting horsey wishes to those with serious illnesses. Among the current campaigns being run to raise funds for the charity is Wobbleberries – a challenge to encourage “middle-aged wimpy riders” to train to compete in a BE80 .

Household Cavalry Foundation

The Household Cavalry Foundation (HCF) was set up in January 2013; it is the official charity for the Household Cavalry. The HCF exists to provide charitable and pastoral support to all the members of Household Cavalry family: serving Soldiers, Operational Casualties, as well as Veterans. The Foundation also supports the protection and development of the rich Heritage that surrounds the history of its Regiments (The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals) and the welfare of all of the retired horses, which is very important.

Midlands Air Ambulance is the charity responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. This constitutes the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK. The charity also provides secondary cover to the surrounding areas, such as Warwickshire and mid Wales. Since 1991, the charity has responded to more than 48,000 missions averaging 2,000 per year.
